A few words about
Ben and his Friend's Half Marathon
A bit about ben and his friends
Ben, who has known Grace from a young age, has participated in the Clontarf Half-Marathon for several years. His commitment to the marathon is not just about personal fitness—it’s about raising awareness and supporting the foundation’s mission to inspire positive change in the community. By taking on the challenge of the half-marathon, Ben continues to play an active role in helping to drive the foundation’s goals of supporting youth development, sports participation, and academic achievement.
The Clontarf Half-Marathon offers a unique platform for individuals like Ben to not only challenge themselves but also to make a real difference by raising both funds and awareness for the foundation. His participation helps spread the message about the vital work the foundation is doing in memory of Grace O’Malley-Kumar, whose legacy lives on through this impactful organization. The event showcases the power of sport and community, encouraging others to get involved and support the foundation’s vision.
Quote From Ben
“For several years now, my friends and I have participated in the Clontarf Half-Marathon to support a good cause while improving our physical fitness. Having known Grace since childhood, I’ve always admired how she embodied these values – not just for a month each year, but every day. For most, balancing intense academics with a demanding athletic schedule would be overwhelming, making it difficult to remain considerate of others. However Grace defied this expectation. She played hockey at an elite level, studied medicine, and all the while, prioritised the well-being of those around her.
Once the Grace O’Malley Kumar Foundation was established, we knew that this year, we wanted to help raise awareness of the amazing legacy she built, despite her life being tragically cut short. All proceeds from the run will go directly to the Foundation, which supports grassroots hockey and combats child loneliness through the concept of “Grace Groups”. You can learn more about these initiatives on the foundation’s website.”
