Lottie & Nathan's Half Marathon

How Lottie & Nathan knew Grace

Lottie and Grace knew each other growing up, sharing hockey pitches and school playing fields, knowing each other in and out of school. From their first sporting encounter in a year six circuit pitch, being the only two girls on the pitch, they knew they were a good team. As Grace and Lottie got older, they shared and opposed each other on the hockey pitch; regardless of the score, they always ended the game with a big hug and a drink afterwards.

Throughout their joint time in the sixth form, Lottie said that Grace always had the loudest laugh and the biggest smile, capturing the attention of the room, but most importantly, was always there for a shoulder to cry on. Grace was a dear friend to Lottie, always being there for her. The kindness Grace showed is what we, as a foundation, want to embody and help give to the world.

Hockey is a large part of Nathan’s life and where he met grace as well. His dad coached Grace at Old Loughtonians and they shared games and training sessions.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has made this happen and wish you good luck in the Great West Half Marathon in memory of Grace. Good luck to Lottie, Nathan and 20 of their amazing friends!

A quote from Lottie

“I could spend all day talking about how amazing Grace was and what an impact she has left on everyone she knew and even those she didn’t. It was a privilege to call her a friend and teammate. A beer in hand and the biggest smile you could imagine is how I picture Grace when I think of her.

Raising money for the foundation in her memory is an honour and something that I will continue to do throughout my life. Her brother James and parents Sanjoy and Sinead continue to inspire us all with their strength and the creation of the foundation will ensure that range of positive initiatives can be funded in the memory of Grace. I will always strive to remember Grace and everyone should “be more like Grace” with everything they do.”
