Grace O'Malley Kumar Foundation

A few words about

Rob's Marathon

We want to extend our thanks and congratulations to Rob, a close friend of Grace’s uncle Kevin, for running the Dublin marathon to raise money for the foundation. Rob said “ Today is the first day this week I haven’t felt leg pain!

Dublin Marathon 2023 – Wow what an event!! I ran with my three friends, Paul, Shane and Jasper. My wife Sarah, daughters Holly and Mya, my mum Beatrice & family were there to support me – so proud!
It was such a lift for so many friends to cheer me on.

I got emotional turning into Rathgar village (30k) and seeing Catherine, Grace’s aunt and Mary & Kevin Snr, Grace’s Grandparents in the lashing rain cheering me on.
I finished in 3hrs 32mins, just outside my target time of 3.30 following some hamstring cramp! Initially a little disappointed but quickly perspective corrects you.

The main reason for writing this is to thank you for your incredibly generous donations. I ran in memory of Grace O’Malley-Kumar. Grace’s death during the summer hit me so incredibly hard for lots of different reasons. Kevin, her uncle and godfather is one of my best & longest friends. I’m delighted & honoured to have been able to raise, with your help, funds to support Grace’s foundation. Grace’s brother James said recently “Something good MUST come from this”. I know it will and you’ve helped.

Thanks again for your support, generosity and good wishes.
