Redmaids' Dads Hockey Club Hockey Game

A Match to Remember

On January 31, 2024, a special hockey match took place at Redmaids’ High School in Bristol. It was between a group of keen, amateur hockey players known as Redmaids’ Dads Hockey Club and the Bristol Medics, a team of medical students from the University of Bristol. This game wasn’t just for fun—it was the first event of its kind to honor the memories of Grace, Barnaby, and Ian. The aim was to raise funds for the Grace O’Malley-Kumar Foundation.

Thanks to everyone’s generosity—including players, club members who couldn’t play but donated, and Redmaids’ High School for offering the pitch for free—we raised £800. We’re planning to donate this amount through the link provided soon, just waiting on a few final donations.

The game ended in a friendly 1:1 tie, which felt just right. It reflected the spirit we believe Grace would have loved: competitive but friendly and respectful.

We’re excited to announce plans for next year to include the Nottingham Medics in a round-robin tournament to benefit the foundation even more. We’ll share more details as they come.

We’re looking forward to staying connected with the foundation and supporting its meaningful work. Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of Grace, Barnaby, and Ian.
